Listening to Ma

My Uncle had passed away late last week and his funeral was today. All my brothers and sisters were able to go to the service and I was thinking about that while we were sitting in church today. We weren’t sure if we were going to all go to the wake or the funeral, so we called Ma to see what she thought. She thought that we should go to the funeral – so you guessed it – you could find us all there, and pretty much showing up all at the same time. Then, should we walk in with the family or just sit in church? Well, time to find Ma again and this time we went and sat in church. I think that this is funny. You know as a Mom you have the power over your children when they are young – but today proved that the power stays with you all the way through your kid’s life. I mean, we’re all in our 40′s and 50′s and we still listen and do pretty much what she says. I was trying to figure out if we had to give this role a name, I’m not sure what that would be. So I looked up on the web for some ideas and I think I found a good name for what a Mom should be called. I think her title should be “The Boss of all Bosses”.  I think this pretty much sums it up, don’t you?
Other things going on was my new SCANNER came today! Yea!! But I’m not quite done with transferring the tapes, so I only let myself take the scanner out of the box and check it out but nothing else. I just knew what will happen if I started to download the software. I would get too involved with the next project, and I really needed to stay focused on the tape transfer instead. I am really close to getting done. I made William watch one of the DVD’s tonight after basketball practice. The tape was when he just came home from the hospital and then about every month after that for the first year. I don’t know how you would react, but while watching it with him I just kept shaking my head and smiling. I even caught myself putting my arm up to my chest while watching it. It was like I was still holding a little baby. Now you might think this is weird, and you could be right, but it was so much fun to watch the tapes that I’m betting you would do the same thing. When the movie was over I asked him if he liked it and he said, ‘yea, but not as much as you did’. I don’t think he really wanted to spend the time to watch it – so I pulled the ‘Ma ranking’ on him and he did sit down with Daryl and I to watch it.
I saw Lucky the peacock today just hanging outside the chicken house. I think he wanted the chickens come out and play with him. The chickens stay in the coop because the dogs would want to eat them, which isn’t a good thing. Well at least not for the chickens huh? But even with the commotion outside with Lucky, they really did a good job laying eggs today. I picked 23 eggs this morning before I gave Reno 3 of them (yes I went back to giving her eggs again in the morning) She was looking a little thin again.

Hi! My daughter is in her mid-30′s and she says that she can still “hear my look” over the phone! I have done my job! I have been a successful mom!!! My work here is done! :)
