Store-bought caramel sauce, for serving
1/4 cup chopped pecans

My apples were too thick, next time they need to be thinner!

Arrange the apple slices on the pastry rectangles in a straight line, overlapping as you go. Bake until the pastry is puffed and golden brown, about 20 minutes.

Here is where you should not do what I did. I added the extra juice from the bowl.

Remove from the pan immediately and place on a serving platter. Serve with caramel sauce and chopped pecans. I would also recommend a big scoop of vanilla ice cream!!DSCN9056

Unfold 1 sheet of puff pastry onto a lightly floured board and roll it slightly with a floured rolling pin until it’s a 10 by 10-inch square. Cut the sheet into quarters with a sharp knife. Place a heaping tablespoon of cheese filling into the middle of each of the 4 squares.DSCN9059Brush the border of each pastry with egg wash and fold 2 opposite corners to the center, brushing and overlapping the corners of each pastry so they firmly stick together. Brush the top of the pastries with egg wash.DSCN9060Place the pastries on the prepared sheet pan. Refrigerate the filled pastries for 15 minutes.

Bake the pastries for about 20 minutes, rotating the pan once during baking, until puffed and brown. I add powdered sugar to the tops of them or you can drizzle frosting over each one. DSCN9062
